Sloppy Joe

Serves: 4-6
Ingredients:
  • 1lb lean ground beef, turkey or chicken 
  • 2 medium celery stalks, chopped
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 8oz can tomato sauce
  • ¼ cup ketchup, more to taste
  • ¼ cup barbecue sauce, more to taste
  • 1 Tbsp packed brown sugar
  • 1 tsp dry mustard
  • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Whole wheat hamburger buns
 
Directions:
  1. Heat a large pan over medium-high heat. Add ground turkey, celery and onion. Cook until turkey is browned and drain fat.
  2. Stir in remaining ingredients, taste and adjust seasoning as necessary.
  3. Simmer for 15 – 20 minutes until reaching desired consistency.​
